Literacy & Academic Intervention
We provide individualized literacy and academic intervention for children who need targeted support with reading, writing, language, and academic skills. Our approach is informed by the connection between language and learning and tailored to each student's individual needs.

Language is the Foundation for Literacy
Reading and writing require more than the ability to recognize letters and words. Children draw on vocabulary, language comprehension, phonological awareness, verbal reasoning, narrative skills, and the ability to organize and express ideas.
Our background in speech-language development allows us to look beneath academic struggles and consider the language skills that may be contributing to them.
Speech-Language Pathologists are language and literacy professionals that can administer comprehensive assessments beyond that of an educator or tutor. This includes assessing and diagnosing within skill areas related successful reading and written language.
We evaluate areas such as phonological awareness, decoding, word recognition, reading accuracy, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension to identify patterns of strengths and areas of difficulty.
Academic challenges aren't always about a lack of knowledge. For some students, the difficulty lies in managing the demands of learning—organizing information, initiating tasks, sustaining attention, managing time, remembering instructions, or breaking complex assignments into manageable steps.
Our academic intervention can incorporate support for executive functioning skills, helping students develop practical strategies for organization, planning, task initiation, working memory, flexible thinking, and self-monitoring.
Behind every overwhelmed student is a learner who may simply need a different path to understanding.
